Population:

  • According to UNDP India will stabilize its population 12 years earlier than expected.
  • At 253 million, India’s adolescent population is among the largest. Over 62% of India is aged between 15 and 59 years, and the median age of the population is less than 30 years. India’s ‘demographic dividend’ represents the potential for economicgrowth based on the age structure of the population.
  • According to the World Bank, public expenditure on education constituted 4.4% of GDP in 2019 and only 3.4% of GDP in 2020

Energy in India:

  • According to International Energy Agency (IEA), the primary energy demand in India is currently at around 900 MTOE (million tonnes of oil equivalent) in which the industrial sector accounts for around 20 per cent around 140 MTOE.
  • The industrial and commercial sector consumption, at 576,424 GWh, accounts for around 51 per cent of the total electricity consumption in India standing at 11, 30, 244GWh.
