    Context  : International Day of Persons with Disabilities is being observed on December 3, 2020.

    Concept :

    • International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPWD) is a United Nations sanctioned day celebrated internationally on 3 December each year.
    • The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992 by United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3.
    • Its objective is to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development and to increase awareness.

    Additional Information

    • This year, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) falls on the same week as the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and will be observed throughout the week in conjunction with the 13th session of the Conference of States Parties to the CRPD.
