All societies continue to show discrimination based on identity. Discuss causes of such discrimination even in current times through examples of national and international importance and measures which can be taken to address it.

Introduction: Show Black Lives Matter movement, Caste violence in India as rising instances of continued existence of discrimination globally and in India.
Body:
Causes of discrimination:
- Pervasive Societal hierarchy in spite of laws. Ex- India banning untouchability but it continues in some or other form
- Bonding based on identity: Gives sense of us vs them. Ex- USA – racism against blacks
- Vested and extremist sections in Government: Ex- Hungary, Austria
- Majoritarianism
- Opinion against affirmative actions. Ex- protest and violence against reservation
- Fall in societal ethics
Measures to improve:
- Talk between communities led by community leaders
- Tolerance and respect towards difference of opinion as part of curriculum
- Checks and balances against executive actions by legislature and executive
- Proactive voice against discrimination by all those against it. Ex- Global support for Black lives matter
- Raising voice. Ex- Indian players immediately raising complain of racism during match
- Ending passive compliance in discrimination. Ex- Objecting to ideas which one does not like in these regards else it is taken as supporting it.
- Implementation of laws in place
Conclusion: A world facing many issues of global consequences need a united front where such discrimination has no place.
