FDI equity inflow to the country grew 40% to $ 51.47 billion during April-December 2020-21.
Women access to credit in India (by credit information bureau CRIF High Mark)
- Indian women are availing more credit in the form of home loans as compared to personal and auto loans.
- The average home loan ticket size for women was higher at Rs 16.69 lakh in December 2020 (Rs 16.38 lakh as of December-end 2019) against Rs 14.71 lakh (Rs 14.45 lakh a year ago) for men.
- Women borrowers from southern states have higher credit book size as against those in western and northern states.
Renewable Energy
- Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu has emerged leader in the clean energy mission across India.
- Karnataka tops the list with largest quantity of solar, wind, small hydro and bio power from April 2017 to December 2020.
- 76 per cent of the total clean energy produced during this period came from solar energy.
- Country receives an abundant solar radiation and the country has an estimated solar energy potential of about 750 GW solar power
- So far a cumulative renewable energy capacity of 91.15 GW (excluding large hydro) has been achieved in the country up to December 31, 2020, which includes 37.47 GW from solar, 38.62 GW from wind, 10.31 GW from biomass and 4.75 GW from small hydro power
- Renewable energy has a share of 23.39 per cent (368.98 GW up to February 29, 2020) in the total installed generation capacity in the country
- India now is at 5th global position for overall installed renewable energy capacity with the installed capacity increasing by 226 per cent in the last five years
Rise in global food Prices (FAO)
- For 9th consecutive month world food prices rose
- The major cause as per UN food agency is rise in sugar and vegetable oils.
- The FAO’s food price index which measures monthly changes for a basket of cereals, oilseeds, dairy products, meat and sugar, averaged 116 points last month versus a slightly revised 113.2 in January
- FAO’s cereal price index climbed 1.2 per cent month on-month in February.
- Maize and rice prices edged up, while wheat export prices remained largely stable.
