In the Introduction define what gender based violence is. Use standard definition given by UN Women.
Gender-Based violence refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms. Gender-based violence (GBV) is a serious violation of human rights and a life-threatening health and protection issue.
In the body, Use this lifecycle image to explain the gender violence at various stages.
Add data on the rate of domestic violence, marital rape, harassment, dowry related deaths provided by various national and international organisations.
Write the impacts on women due to gender based violence in different dimensions viz., economical, social, political, Psychological etc.
Add its impact on Sex ratio (mention data on SR given by census 2011). Link gender based violence with Malnourishment, hunger(hidden hunger),poverty etc.
Mention the steps to be taken to address the issue:
- Gender based budgeting
- Strengthening NCW
- Policies and acts to be made stringent (domestic violence act, Sexual harassment at workplace act, POCSO etc)
- Empowerment of women in all spheres (Ex., Increasing the age of marriage of women)
- SHG’s and financial inclusion
- Value education and Awareness creation.
In the conclusion, summarize why Gender violence should be curbed in order make the society gender neutral which will reap more benefits for the society in particular and country in general.
